What is the Best CCMS for My Company?
Things to Consider When Purchasing a Component Content Management System (CCMS) Solution
When shopping for a component content management system (CCMS), there are many factors to consider to ensure that your final decision is the right decision for your organization and you are getting the best CCMS for your requirements. In addition to evaluating the CCMS's features, functionality, and cost, as well as the quality of the services the CCMS vendor provides to their clients, there is another critical factor to consider: the licensing model.
Some CCMS vendors offer a variety of licensing models to accommodate the needs of a wider range of organizations and their unique requirements. These model offerings make content management systems more conducive to some organizations that might otherwise never have been able to implement a CCMS due to budget or resource limitations. They also provide different methods of implementing a CCMS, each with advantages and disadvantages for different situations. Therefore, it is important to understand each licensing model thoroughly and how its characteristics and costs might impact your organization prior to making your CCMS selection.

Perpetual License CCMS Model Option
A perpetual license model provides the option for a client to purchase the CCMS software and install it internally on its own servers. The client's IT staff is responsible for installing and maintaining the CCMS software and the hardware on which it runs, as well as the corresponding upgrades to both. The client purchases the CCMS software and a designated number of seat licenses for one up-front fixed price and retains the right to use the software forever. Technical support and software upgrades are provided by Vasont Systems if the organization engages in an annual maintenance agreement, which is calculated as a percentage of the license price.

SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) CCMS License Model Option
A SaaS (software-as-a-service) license model is a type of cloud computing that gives the client the option to rent the CCMS software, servers, and networking services. With this model, Vasont Systems hosts the software and the client’s content on a data center and provides all infrastructure and IT support needed. Vasont Systems gives the client's authorized users access to the content and software 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. The client owns their content, but it does not own the CCMS software. Use of the software is provided as a service from Vasont Systems for a monthly fee. This model usually requires a multiple-year licensing agreement for a specified number of seat licenses. No additional maintenance fees are charged in a SaaS model. Technical support and software upgrades are included with the monthly fee.
